Entrusted

This is dedicated to those who struggle to love themselves.

This piece represents a mental exercise that helps me when I'm down on myself:

I imagine a small animal (mine is the hummingbird), and I give myself the mission to protect and cherish it. It is delicate and tiny and doesn't do anything for me, but it is beautiful and it deserves protection. It may stray from my side or it may not do everything I tell it to, but I keep it safe from harm. However, every negative thought I think about myself hurts this little animal. Every self-deprecating remark, every time I don't forgive myself, my little hummingbird suffers. Therefore, I do my best to keep the negativity at bay.

This little hummingbird represents me. I have the duty to protect myself. I have the duty to forgive myself. I'm just a little hummingbird, going through life trying to figure things out. And so are you! What is your tiny animal?
